Hello,

My name is Michael Brown AKA DJ Michael – AKA DJ Harbinger – and I am the creator of Liquid Gothic and your host on Liquid Gothic Radio.

Liquid Gothic is a project I started a while back when MP3.com was young and the Love of my life, the beautiful Lady Chalice, wanted me to get a hobby. I think she may have had something in mind that didn’t necessarily occupy the whole cellar – but you do have to be careful what you wish for.

I have been a DJ off and on for a good part of my life but could never get used to others telling me what to spin. Spending four hours on a Sunday morning spinning “Casey Kasem’s American Top 40″ was never a good time. This attitude was not conducive to putting food in my mouth or supporting my family so I had to find other things to do. With the onset of the digital age came the technology that would allow individuals like me to share their music with the world. Companies like MP3.com, Ampcast, Live365 and others opened up great possibilities for DJs, Performing Musicians and Artists of all types. We were finally free to showcase our work to the world without having to be chained to the major labels, recording companies or broadcast entities.

Liquid Gothic is my personal hobby and is totally “Not For Profit!” The mission of Liquid Gothic is to support all the artists involved in the darker music scenes. I do try to focus on the artists and events here in the New England area but want to do everything I can to present as many new and independent artists of the world to the world. I try to encourage everyone who enjoys the music and going out to great clubs to support all the artists involved. Whether they make music or jewelry, promote and produce the shows or provide the security that keeps you safe and comfy at the clubs they need your support to continue doing this. It has been my observation that none of these folks are doing this to get rich. Most are barely getting by, but they do this because of the love they have for their art and the scene. It would be a shame if you finally decided that you were going to get spruced up enough to get past the door and enjoy a night of dark music and found the club closed and silent. Try and buy some music from an independent label (non RIAA) and go to a club in your area. It is so nice to have a place to escape the tragedies of our world if only for a short while.
